Jason has performed in-depth Substantive Editing, Line Editing, Copyediting, and Proofreading on nonfiction books—such as Kafka: The Anatomist Of Power, Close Of Play, and Convergence Culture—technical books, scholarly articles, website copy, brochures, newsletters, press packets and releases, research reports, grant proposal summaries, as well as dissertations, research papers, admissions essays, cover letters and CVs, and essays, novels, plays, and poetic works.

One of his clients reports: “Jason is an excellent editor, with deep knowledge of the English language. A writer himself, he can help creatively not only by editing syntax and grammar, but also proposing restructuring and accurate rephrasings when needed. He also has the ability to work under strict deadlines, without losing his temper and humour… As an author whose works have been translated into 6 languages, and also a publisher with more than two decades and over 200 books’ worth of publishing experience, I can affirm that he is a high level professional” (Costas D.)

He has also worked on various Copywriting projects in many of the aforementioned areas, and is a crack copywriter in a pinch, although nowadays he tends to avoid such work unless inspired by the project in some way.

Additionally he has over a decade of experience as a tutor, academic coach, and English language class instructor with graduate and undergraduate students from academic institutions such as Harvard, MIT, Tufts, Lesley, BU, Princeton, Columbia, Baruch, McGill, Concordia, UdeM, Dawson, and others.

He is familiar with both American and British systems of spelling and syntax, as well as Style Guides.

Education-wise, he studied at Vassar College and Oxford University—which all seems like a long time ago in a galaxy far far away—and also (incidentally) has studied Photography and Holistic Coaching at professional levels.

He speaks English and Russian. Has excellent Research and Fact Checking skills. And is versed in a wide variety of Word Processing, Graphic Design, Web Design, Email Marketing, and Photo software and applications.

Interests include: Literature, Cinema, Arts, Photography, Philosophy, Psychology, Spirituality, Meditation, Qi Gong, Volunteering, Exercise, Hiking, Holistic Living Practices, Community Building, Theater/Improv, Tea, and anything under the sun as long as it’s approached with curiosity.
